Dr. Tyrome M. Best (Ty) departed this life peacefully Thursday, March 23, 2023. He was born February 10, 1955, in Edgecombe County North Carolina, the firstborn to parents, the late Claude and Margaret Best. He graduated from Warwick High School in 1973. In 1977, Ty graduated from Hampton Institute (University) with honors earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication. He was also awarded two honorary Doctorates.

Upon graduation, Tyrome began working in the corporate world. Because of his relentless quest for economic freedom, he was able to retire at the age of forty. Tyrome was the founder of Wealth Builders Worldwide. He was inducted into the Network Marketing Hall of Fame, authored four books, dozens of motivational tapes and CDs. One of his latest and greatest accomplishments was to achieve the highest level in GS Partners, the coveted "Crown Ambassador." Tyrome was a man of integrity and stood on the Christian principles he held dear to his heart. His epithet will forever be engraved in our hearts because "The people ARE Better because HE Came!"

Tyrome was preceded in death by his wife, Valerie; Father, Claude Best; and brothers, Dwight Best and Timothy Hailey. He leaves to cherish his fond memories, sons, Alexander and Gabriel, of Newport News; mother, Margaret Best of Hampton; brother, Reginald Best (Nicole) of Newport News; sisters, Deborah Baker (Jerry) of Hampton, Rev. Eleanor Hailey of Newport News, Dr. Terri Best and Darlene Best of Newport News; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, colleagues, business partners, protegees, college, high school and neighborhood friends.
