John D. Corson, 67, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022. He was born in Newport News, VA to the late Raymond and Billie Corson. He graduated from Menchville High School and, at the age of 18, moved to Atlanta, GA where he attended Georgia Tech and Atlanta Christian College. From the latter institution he received his Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry.

He was called to preach in his first church in Mt. Auburn, IL. While there he attended and graduated from Lincoln Christian Seminary with a Master of Divinity in New Testament, and a Master of Arts in Christian Theology and Philosophy.
Pastor John continued his education at Westminster Theological Seminary in Glenside, Pennsylvania, receiving his Ph.D. in New Testament. While there, he preached for Severna Park Christian Church in Arnold, Maryland and taught New Testament and Philosophy at Eastern Christian College in Bel Air, Maryland. This was the busiest time in his life.
John returned to Virginia in 1985 and preached for churches in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Ivor and Skippers, VA. He was called to Windsor Baptist Church in July, 2011.

Pastor John loved baseball, having played the sport from the age of 10 until he was injured while in college. He was a radio announcer and producer, obtaining his first job at the age of 14 at WGH-FM in Hampton, VA. He was also a Licensed Professional Counselor and for many years worked as a Marriage and Family counselor and therapist, having received further education in Psychology and Neuro-Physiology at Eastern Virginia Medical School and Old Dominion University in Norfolk. Pastor John was a member of several professional counseling associations. For nine years, he also served as a chaplain for the Chesapeake Police Department.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Howton Corson; five sons, Matthew Bunting, Tim Bunting, Bobby Corson and wife Emily, Brad Corson and Daniel Bunting and wife Christina; a brother, Butch Corson and wife Cindy; a brother-in-law, Harry Simpson and eleven grandchildren: Anna, Staci, Collin, Chandler, Ali, Mariah, Robby, Madi, Wesley, Reagan and Landon.
