Howard Conard Kershaw, Sr. was born on October 10, 1954 to the late Willie Kershaw and Ruby Mae Wright-Kershaw in Union, South Carolina. He transitioned from this life on March 30, 2023 in Newport News, VA surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded in passing by his wife, Pamela Kershaw.
Howard is survived by his three daughters, Nikisha Marie Mooring-Jones of Virginia Beach, VA, Karla Kershaw of Hampton, VA, and Kelly Kershaw of Falls Church, VA; one son, Howard Kershaw, Jr. of Woodbridge, VA; one brother, Willie Kershaw of Newport News, VA; two sisters, Tonnie Kershaw of Hampton, VA and Peggy Kershaw Carpenter of Hampton, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will cherish his memory.
Howard was a proud business owner for more than 30 years, first opening Kershaw Automotive in Newport News and later opening K’s Auto Center in Hampton. His lifelong love of cars led him to being not only a business owner, but also a mechanic, a car salesman, a car collector, an airplane pilot, an inventor, a machinist, a race car driver, and a man who knew almost every person in the local community. Howard’s interests also extended beyond cars as he loved fishing, hiking trails, cooking, shooting pool, and traveling the country. He was a hard-working, determined man with an adventurous spirit. Howard was always looking for his next challenge. He will be missed by the many people who loved and respected him.
