Robert L. Bridges, 59
STANDISH -- Robert L. Bridges, 59, loving husband of Pam Bridges, of 40 years, died June 19, 2007, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, surrounded by his family.
He was born on Oct. 15, 1947, on Orange Street in Rockland, to Lewis and May Pease Bridges. He attended schools in Rockport and received his college degree at SMVTI, in South Portland. He married Pam Stone on Dec. 10, 1966, in Rockport. He embarked on a long career in the automotive industry, most recently serving as Parts Manager for R.J. Grondin Sons Construction Company in Gorham.
During his years raising his family, Bob was involved in the lives of his children as Boy Scout leader, basketball coach, and other numerous activities such as camping and fishing. In 1992, Bob and Pam sold their home, bought an RV, and traveled the U.S. for six months, seeing 48 States. Then they spent the next 10 years wintering in Florida and summering in Maine. They settled in Standish in 2001, where he enjoyed being close to family and friends, especially his grandchildren Michael, Taylor, Trevor, Kaitlin, Christopher, and Lipstick Boy (Nicholas).
Survivors include his wife, Pam, and his beloved kitties, Molly and Amanda of Standish; his son, Terry and his wife Bon and granddaughter T of Derry, N.H.; his son Tom of Standish and his children, Mike of Rockland and Trev of Liberty; and his baby girl, Tracy Rayner and her husband Dave and their children, Katie Bear, Chris, and Nick Dude of Scarborough; his Aunt Julie and Uncle Ken Hall of Summerville, and his Aunt Pat Start of Rockport; sister-in-law Charlotte and brother-in-law, Arthur; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family of Robert wishes to thank the Maine Medical Center Staff on the R-3 Cor Floor for the professionalism and great care they gave to him.
A Celebration of Bob's life will take place on Sunday, July 8, at his home, 515 Ossipee Trail West, Standish, from 1 - 4 p.m. Family and friends are welcome.
