KINGFIELD — Daniel Amos Pitcher, known affectionately as Dan, passed away on Sept. 27, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born April 1, 1947, and grew up in Camden with his parents Amos and Florice Pitcher and his sister Diane. He met his wife Linda Faus at the Samoset Resort, and they later resided in Kingfield for 45 years. He was an accomplished carpenter and home builder and was recognized as a ski tuning expert and knowledgeable ski salesman at the Ski Rack.
Dan was an avid outdoorsman who loved to ski, fish, canoe and camp. He and Linda loved paddling down the Kennebec, and camping at Cathedral Pines Campground in Eustis with their daughter Dawn and her husband Dave Batchelder and their grandchildren Kate and Adam. He loved to travel and took many camper trips to Alaska, the Grand Canyon and the Lewis and Clark trail to the Pacific, as well as a winter in Florida.
Dan and Linda recently moved to Lunenburg, Mass., to be closer to Dawn, Dave, Kate and Adam, whom he loved very much. He was always the fun dad and grandfather who was quick with a smile, a hug, a joke or a story. He made many friends wherever he went due to his warm friendly personality and adventure-loving nature.

He was predeceased by his parents, Amos and Florice Pitcher. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughter, Dawn and her family of Westford, Mass.; and his sister, Diane and her husband Geoff Bedell of Kamas, Utah.
A celebration of life is being planned for the summer of 2025 on Sugarloaf Mountain, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and the joy he brought into their lives. Dan’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the beauty of the homes he built and the lakes, rivers and trails he loved.
