Hurbert Richie

Hubert Richie was born in Stephens County to the late Dennis & Loudella Burton Richie.  He was a member of Cleveland C.M.E. Church where he served faithfully.  He was married to the late Mary Thornton Richie. Hurbert has six children (Lonnie Joe Richie, Hattie Williamson, Pauline Witt, Weldon Richie, Jessie Martin, and Jean Ramsey); numerous grandchildren and great-granchildren.  He can be remembered for his love of music and for rendering music for several church choirs and gospel groups in the Northeast GA area.

Henry was the first born and first son born to Dennis and Loudella Richie.  He had 13 brothers and sisters: Beatrice, Mary, Georgia, Styles, Jade, Gemimia, Meggie, William, Bessie, Hubert, Lottie Lou, Alberta, Olivia.

Robert "BJ" Richie was born in Stephens County to the late Flora and Henry Richie. He departed this life at the Toccoa Nursing Center.  He was a member of Cleveland C.M.E. Church and was a faithful member until his health started declining. He worked for Patterson Pump for 25 years.



Robert was married to Gracie Richie. He has three daughters (Joan McCater, Diane Richie, and Annetta Mayes); two sons (Larry Richie, Trampas Richie, and Robert Wilhite who preceded him in death); two stepsons (Michael Hunder and Terry Hunter).  At the time of death, Robert had 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Roy L. Richie was born in Stephens County to the late Henry and Flora Richie. He was perceded in death by his wife, Mavis R. Shackleford Richie and daughter Marolyn E. Richie.  He was a World War II veteran and retired from Troydon Furniture Company. Roy has 6 children (Roy L. Richie, Jr., Dorothy Richie Grant, Nina Richie Thomas, Barbara R. Richie, Elaine Richie, Vickie E. Richie). At the time of his  death, Roy had 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Alberta Richie Scott departed this life after an extended illness.  She was the daughter of the late Dennis and Ludella Richie. She joined Cleveland C.M.E. Church at an early age. She was an active member while her health permitted. She was the Church Treasurer, a delegate for the Annual Conference, a member of the Stewardess Board and the Missionary Society. She was a member and the pianist for the first Sunday night note singing class held at various churches in the North georgia and Tennessee Convention. Bucilla Richie Thompson was born to the late Henry Richie and Flora Burton Richie. She was a domestic worker and homemaker.  She married Mack Thompson  and they have 5 children (George Thompson, Steve Thompson, Andrew Thompson, Mac Ann Martin, Sara T. Johnson). She joined Cleveland C.M.E. Church at an early and and attended and worked until her health failed. She was the Mother of the Church, a Missionary, sang with the Note Singers, and a former member of the Eastern Star.

Olivia Richie Jones was born to the late Dennis and Ludella Richie of Toccoa, Georgia. She was the youngest of 14 children, all of whom preceded her in death. She was a member of Cleveland C.M.E. Church in Toccoa, Georgia where she served on the Stewardess Board.  She married the late Reverend Aldon Jones and moved to Atlanta, Georgia and became a faithful member of West Mitchell CME Church where she held a number of offices and was on various committees.  Olivia had two step-sons (Richard Jones, who preceded her in death and A. Herman Jones).  At the time of death, Olivia had one granddaughter.

Lottie Lou Richie was born in Stephens County to the late Dennis and Ludella Richie. She departed this life at the home of her daughter. She was the widow of Lawrence Reese and a faithful member of Cleveland C.M.E. Church.  Lottie Lou has four children (Annie Boyd, Margaret Thornton, Eliza Reese, David Reese).  She was preceded in death by 13 sisters and brothers.  At the time of death, Lottie Lou had 9 grandchildren.

Dennis Richie

Dennis Richie

Dennis was married to Loudella Burton Richie and in this union they had 14 children. Henry, Beatrice, Mary, Georgia, Styles, Jade, Gemimia, Meggie, William, Bessie, Hubert, Lottie Lou, Alberta, Olivia.  According to the U.S. Census, Dennis married Ludella in 1892 at the age of 21.  Dennis and both his parents were born in Georgia.
He was the son of Jack and Josephine. Dennis passed away in May 1942 at the age of 69.
