CLASSMATE BIOS

In some of the past reunions, we have printed a book containing a bio of most classmates. This is too expensive and is outdated quick, so we are providing this page to create a digital classmates bio book. Please know... this information IS secure and NOT available on the website, but you are able to contact anyone 'via email', who has posted their bio.

So, please take a few minutes to update us with your comments and contact information, especially if you moved or changed your email address. Please add a current picture of yourself – it can be with your spouse, your dog, pet rock, what ever you prefer. Your 'Then' photo will be added later by the site administrator.

Comment: I retired last year to our lake place in north west Wisconsin. We enjoy being away from the hustle bustle of the city, but are only 90 minutes away. I still see a number of my actuarial co-workers, and after 45 years of that, I have no regrets. I visit my son in Portland OR from time to time, but see my step daughter in Eau Claire much more frequently.





I hope to take an antelope in Wyoming this October, and a few North Dakota pheasants after that.  I have been blessed in many many ways, and hope to give more back in the coming years.

Comment: After leaving SLP, I attended college in upstate New York, followed by a stint at Vanderbilt University where I earned my M.A. and Ph.d.  I taught college for several years, published a bunch of brilliant/boring articles and eventually joined corporate America. I retired early but was unable to convince my husband to do the same.  I unretired and worked for the TSA. (Yes, everybody hates screening but there is some scarey stuff people try to bring on planes.)  





I retired again and moved to Southwest Florida. One daughter and family live in the Twin Cites; another in Boston. While we occasionally visit them, we've got Micky and Hogwarts down our way....  





I won't make it to our 50th reunion, but I would be delighted to get together with anyone else who lives in the area.

Comment: I've been married 49 yrs. to Dorene from Bloomingon. We have two adult children and two adoring grandchildren, one from each. We had our granddaughter with us up north for ten summers, wonderful. She will have great memories of her summers, (helping grandma working at the Orr General Store) the rest of her life and so will we. Our daughter and granddaughter live in our home in Bloomington. Our grandson Jackson who is three, lives in Minneapolis with our son and his wife.





​I went three years to the U of Mn., four years USAF, Loring AFB, Limestone Maine.  Beautiful, like northern Mn. I worked in the metal industry, help design and build hi-tech prototypes for the clean air environment industries. ACAD (computer aided desigh) substitute teacher for awhile.





Retired at 54 yrs. to the cabin up north near Orr, Mn. I help start two businesses for close friends in Mpls. and helped to start two non-profits, in northern Mn., by writing up their Non-profit Corporate papers. Did some grant writing and got good at that, got every grant we tried for. Got into general contracting for home additions, improvements, garages, and outdoor sheds.





​Finally, four years ago I quit all and I'm just working on my own projects. I will never get done but at least we're having more time to do the things we enjoy. Also working on our family tree with over 12,500 words so far, I have 52 cousins.





​P.S.  While reading our bios., I got a kick out of how many of us thought this was our 40th reunion.  Ha! don't we wish...love it!

Comment: Fifty years! I've been truly blessed through these many years with a wonderful family, and many best friends. Since my husband's passing last year I've kept fairly busy. I've now been divorced and widowed. That's enough for one person. I still retain my sense of humor. Looking forward to see everyone at the reunion.

Comment: After 20 years as an English teacher, I switched to a career in fitness. I teach yoga, cardio and strength training for Lifetime Fitness and other corporations. I have taught yoga in Isla Mujeres, Mexico for women's retreats. I have my own tutoring business and work with kids on strategies for the ACT/SAT tests.
I have been married to Bill for 23 years. I have two daughters, a son-in-law and five wonderful grandsons.

Married to Steve for 48 years, see below.  Two grown children and five grandchildren.  Most people know me as 'Kate' now.  Still enjoying my career as an accounting professor at St. Cloud State University.  I'll be teaching in Tianjin, China for six weeks before the reunion but will return in plenty of time to attend.  I'm looking forward to connecting with old friends.

Michael Bornstein

Comment: After I left SLP, I bounced around to Grinnell, Antioch (fabulous college!)and Colorado State, where I began my career as a wildlife biologist, first with the US Fish and Wildlife Service's Refuges  on the Lower Rio Grande and then to the lower part of the Upper Miss, known as Mark Twain, then off to the Pacific Northwest with FWS and BLM, now with the Forest Service,  living in Utah.  I have been incredibly fortunate to work on large ecoystems, focusing on bird biology.  I am happily married to my wife of over 31 years, Teresa, and I have three wonderful daughters. When I think back to St.Louis Park H.S. I wonder how I got through - pretty unfocused! - probably on account of some good friends and the tennis team!

Comment: The best memory of my High School years are when I skipped school to work at the Old Met Stadium.  I sold souveniers outside Gate D.  This was a special day - 1st game of the 1965 World Series. It also was Yom Kippur. My photo appeared in the Mpls Star with Hubert Humphrey. Front page (full color) selling him a souvenier.  Of course my parents received numerous calls from most of the community Rabbis.  How could you let Darrell work on Yom Kippur when Sandy Koufax wouldn't even pitch.  Little did the critics know - that I had a note excusing from Class that day.  It was submitted to and signed off by our Asst. Principal Frank Miller.  Who ever knew; I would also work professionally in the 1987 and 1991 World Series.  Amazing how those school work programs prepare us in life!





I was fortunate to retire early in my career. I worked in the  "FAKE NEWS"  business -since my early years at WCCO-TV.  Taught in the Journalism School at the U of M and Then on to more MainStreamMedia and Music Videos. I married Jennifer in 1990 and never spent a full winter in Minnesota since then.  We moved full time to South Florida in 2003.  I look forward to seeing everybody at our 50th!

This is my second reunion that I will be attending. I cannot believe it has been 40 years, time has flown.  I returned to Minnesota in 1989, after being gone for 20 years.  I lived in California and Colorado. When I got divorced for the second time, I decided to move back to Minnesota. Some of you  may see me everyday and not recognize me. I manage the drive thru Starbucks Coffee located on Minnetonka Blvd. and Inglewood yes, in St. Louis Park. Stop by and say hi.

Hi everyone, I can't believe it is our 50th renion. Most of us are retired and enjoying our golden years. I moved to Cannon Falls about 3 years ago. Both my daughters still live in the cities. I have one grandbaby going to be 3 years old in August. I am in a long term relationship and very happy. I live on Lake Bylesby outside Cannon Falls, we have a pontoon boat and a RV so, I am a snowbird. I love to cook and sew and travel around the country.
