Mary Cashman

Tim Cashmn - August 13th, 2023
My favorite cousin. The last time I saw Mary was at the very cool restaurant she and a partner opened in the Lake Harriet/ Minnehaha Creek area. The menu, décor, color, said artist quarter. The place was a great achievement for Mary. Our group of friends, the core including Kaposia grads: Mary, Michele Bernier, Matt Patterson, Steve Gagnier, Donna Nelson, and myself, hung out, those post high school years, at the Haberdashery (the Hab) in downtown St Paul. Mary’s place of business. That was just plain fun. Drink beer, crack peanuts, drop the shells on the floor, find out what’s going on, pontificate on the state of things. Your experience with Mary was intimate. It was her voice, a whisper at any volume, and her ever calm expression. She died without warning. I’m aware that those friends above: Michele, Matt, Steve, hurried to Mary’s side, itself a testament to my favorite cousin.
Michele Joy - August 10th, 2023
Wait! Those question marks were suppose to be a heart.. no question! I’ll always miss you…
Michele Joy ( Bernier) - August 10th, 2023
My true blue friend, from grade school through high school and many years beyond.. A generous spirit and gentle soul..I’ll have to be content to see you in my dreams ( I still do) Miss you always, Mary???? Michele

Jerry Chermak

Gary Arndt - August 8th, 2023
Jerry was an great friend at SSP! His creative talents were amazing! I was blessed to have had art classes at SSP with him. I can still see him in Ms Anderson art class. We both ended up working at the same company in Bloomington, MN . We got to know each other and became good friends after school. Jerry had a wonderful wife (Karen) and a beautiful daughter. Sadly they lost their daughter in a terrible accident. I think of Jerry often! He was a talented artist with an awesome since of humor!
Linda Kuchera Ewald - July 22nd, 2023
Jerry, I mostly remember you from our years at Central Elementary School. You were always the shortest guy in class (I was the tallest girl). In 4th or 5th grade I had a 'growth spurt', so you kept teasing me (about being taller than all the other kids in class); One day, after school, you picked the wrong day to tease me......... I beat the snot out of you !! After that, no more teasing, & we even became friends (through Mark Wenda). Hope you are at Peace now........RIP

Pease in eternity old neighbor.
Larry Raddatz - July 25th, 2023
Mike always made me laugh. I remember in junior high when he got in the towel bin after PE. When MR. Wentworth walked by, Mike jumped up and said, "hi JB"! The poor guy almost had a heart attack.
Michele - June 28th, 2023
Best twin brother EVER. Eternally grateful for his love and kindness all the years of our lives. He left a hole in many ❤️

Dixie, you were such a kind soul; mostly quiet, but "still waters run deep". Bless your heart........Be at peace w/ Jesus for all eternity.
Tim Cashmn - August 9th, 2023
Dixie held a special place in our class. And embracing Linda's comment for Jeanne I'll claim a star for Dixie.

Darren Fjerstad

Linda Kuchera Ewald - July 18th, 2023
Darren, Our Hockey Goalie Extraordinaire !!! My friends and I would sit in the front row, ringing our Cow-Bells, screaming 'til we were hoarse (& when the other team's cheerleaders came too close, we'd spray RAID at them -- HA !!). Hope you're at Peace

Maureen Gallagher

Brenda (Hawkinson) Apfelbacher - August 24th, 2023
One of the saddest days of my life was hearing the shocking news of Maureen’s untimely death. Oh, the fun we had together - that girl loved to dance! We shared an apartment for a year in the mid 70s and our friendship was sealed. Sue Strilzuk, Mary Miller, Donna Helseth and I shared many a glass of wine over the years with that girl, creating some very fun memories. I think of her often, of how things could have been so different. I miss her ♥️

Anne Mohrbacher - July 26th, 2023
Lived across the street from me in grade school. A friend who went to Brady wanted to see the inside of that bar on Concord and Bryant. By then I think it was called The Zoo. Late 80's. I hadn't seen him since high school. He recognized me and Ellen and walked over, "Haven't seen you around here lately (meaning The Zoo.)" I gave him a quick rundown on going to college, etc. "Why did you want to go all the way over to Minneapolis?" We didn't get into Ellen's life. She also lived across the street from him in grade school. She had been living in Australia for about 15 years. We got up to leave before that came up. That's the last time I saw him.

Susan Mikutowski - July 18th, 2023
oh I remember the fun, the mischief, the laughs we had working with Mrs. Carlson on the school paper. You were a delight!
Linda (Kuchera) Ewald - July 13th, 2023
Oh "LINA", my very Best Friend in high school.........You were taken way too soon (from this world). It hurt my heart that you were found dead in bed (in your 30's) alone, waiting for an organ transplant !!! You were so funny, smart & loyal. I have nothing but fond memories of you (our Senior year, we were inseparable). 50-yrs since graduation (now:2023), I still sometimes think of you. See you on the 'other side'.........Keep watch over my pets 'til I get there.........XOXO

"LINA" -- My BFF 4-EVER !!! Our Senior year was Epic !! By NOON we'd be done with school, then we'd spend the afternoon watching soaps (remember "Dark Shadows" & "All My Children"), looking at fan mags like Tiger Beat, then down to the basement to play Pool (& take nips of booze from your step-dad's bar !!).........Finally, at about 8-9 PM, we'd walk to the Lamp-post on your corner to say our Goodbyes..........How I wish I could meet you once more under that same Lamp-post ! RIP My Dearest HS Friend

Rodney, you were a great cousin. Miss all the times we enjoyed together ❤️

Vicky Mack

Linda Kuchera Ewald - July 14th, 2023
Vicky, In the past, we bumped into each other several times at my (then) place of employment -- PETCO; each time we would chat a little, exchange phone#, & PROMISE to get together to catch up (& sadly we NEVER did !!)..........How I REGRET that !!! I am so SORRY we didn't........
Tim Cashman - June 8th, 2023
Vicky had a naturally feminine style with a touch of Hollywood. Then that sweet brassy personally to go with it. When she held her cigarette, just so, you could see she wasn't pretending; she just had it. She wasn't a club member. She was through part of a group who occupied the balcony of the old theater, during our junior year, making demands for something that no doubt needed changing. Usually she was one of the bellbottom - fringe jacket kids, but she wore a dress like Grace Kelly. I hope they buried her in mink.

Gee, Mark, I remember you in Theater..........You played God in the play "Genesis". So many years have passed, but I can still smell the paint from the sets we would paint for backgrounds. Ironic.......you once played God, now you're with Him. RIP

Dennis Ryan

Brad Lorence - June 15th, 2023
I remember on that canoe trip Tim Cashman and I had a waterproof tent and Dennis and Jim Gallager were in an old canvas tent that leaked badly. We would let Jim and Dennis look in just so they could see how comfotable a dry tent could be. Miss you both
Tim Cashman - June 8th, 2023
Denny had one of those infectious grins you had to like right off. . In grade school I'd go over to his house and have chicken noodle soup. Every time. We kids teased him about it. He was a first rate short stop, scoop it up throw 'em out in one motion. One game, St John's vs Lincoln, Bill Schmitt was striking out us St. John hitters one two three. Denny said, 'I'm not afraid of him.' And Bill's pitching was something to fear. Denny steps up, first pitch, bang he's on base. Two weeks after graduation, Denny, Howie, Brad Lorence and I went on a canoe trip off the Sawbill trail. The fish weren't biting all week. Ryan says, 'I'm not coming in until I catch one. He's out there and now it's raining and a thousand casts latter it's still raining and he still hasn't felt a tug. His determination was impressive enough. We told him to come in, we'd open a can of tuna fish. The last time I talked with Denny was at our 1995 Turning 40 Reunion. He was still my friend right off.

Denise Gutzman Everson - August 8th, 2023
Glenn, I was so shocked when I got the call of your passing. I never got to thank you for getting Bonnie through the 1st half of her chemo. It was hard for her after you passed away to want to continue down that path without you. Bernice and Barb being the older sisters, made sure she continued her treatments and Bonnie is cancer free. You are missed by many and your memories you gifted us live on. RIP
Linda Kuchera Ewald - July 20th, 2023
Glenn, You married my grade school BFF's older sister (Bonnie Uecker -- who sadly died of Cancer, after you did)..........How you died was Horrific (Drown !). Now you & wife Bonnie are reunited.........You Both R.I.P.
