---|---|

Bucket list? (e.g., plans for the future, travel): | We have a domestic road trip planned for this summer and will hopefully be able to visit our son in Japan in October. There are still a number of countries I would like to visit and many things I would like to experience. I am grateful for this time in my life. |
Robin Meuer

Work life? (e.g., education, first job, occupation): | After leaving the Ash Street entrance for the final time, I attended UW-Madison, and received a BA in Art History, 1976. A job at The University Book Store (originally intended to help fund graduate school), eventually led to a promotion to supervisor of on-line textbook orders, a position I still hold today. |
---|---|
Family life? (e.g., spouse, kids/grandkids, friends, places lived): | I've survived a couple close calls with marriage. My nine-year relationship with a college girlfriend ended in a way I wouldn't have wished for- maybe the right thing, in retrospect. Later on, I nearly tied the knot with a younger West High alum, but we couldn't agree on the location question: should we stay in Madison, or migrate to Seattle? She migrated, I stayed. Ah well.....good times were had by all, at any rate. |
Doing today? (e.g., where do you live, working or retired, hobbies, travels): | Living with a woman from Barcelona for a couple years led to several trips to Spain, (in order to visit her family). Besides forcing me to speak my rusty Spanish and non-existent Catalan around the house, this also led to my interest in travel. I have now visited London several times (I've always been an Anglophile anyway), and Paris (the most beautiful city in the world), as well as Bandung, West Java, (very interesting and exotic, though stay away from eating durians. Not for the squeamish). I'm also an annual visitor to Door County every summer. It's a great place for biking. When at home, I have an alter ego radio identity: KC9VAY; ("Kilo Charlie Nine Victor Alpha Yankee" in ham radiospeak). My most interesting contact so far? Maybe the fellow in Tierra Del Fuego I talked to one night....during a nasty Antarctic storm. Besides all that stuff, there is my art studio where I paint and draw, and my dark room, for all those old black and white negatives. There's just not enough time! ;-) |
Bucket list? (e.g., plans for the future, travel): | When the pandemic truly ends, Florence and Rome will be my first destination. Vienna, Berlin, Budapest, Istanbul, Singapore, and Alice Springs in the Australian outback are a little further down the list. Another visit to the Final Four for the UW basketball team would be a nice trip for this UW basketball and football season ticket holder, (since 1972). Retirement will be good, I hope! |

Doing today? (e.g., where do you live, working or retired, hobbies, travels): | Both Jim and I are retired and lucky to have family close by. We spend a lot of time with them. We have land up north and spend time updating it and vacationing there. Still see my besties from High School, we try to do at least one mini vacation a year. Classmate Linda Connelly Peterson and I are Co-directors (since 2009) of a camp that has been running since 1979 (we've attended since 1983) called "Women's Week".
