Barbara Carol Alderete

Barbara Carol Culver Alderete of Round Rock, Texas peacefully passed away on January 9th, 2019 in the comforting arms of her loving husband Richard Alderete, from Parkinson's Disease.
Their romance began in March of 1980 leading to marriage in April of 1986. They went on to share 32 fulfilling years of marriage and a multitude of meaningful friendships.
Barbara filled her 64 years in this world with love, family, adventure, friendship, and philanthropy. After getting her technical education at Edgewood College she quickly climbed the ladder to achieve Equipment Engineering Manager in the Semiconductor business.
She was an avid fisher and traveler. Innumerable weekends, holidays, and extended vacations were spent with her family casting into the saltwater off the Texas coast, or attending family events around the country. She was also a passionate RVer. Barbara loved packing up the RV bus for an impromptu trip to anywhere and enjoyed the thought of “roughing it” with family and friends. Many close family memories were made wherever 4 wheels could park.
Barbara made clothes, blankets, and Halloween costumes for her family and loved teaching her daughters how to cook, bake and ice skate.
She was also a fixture in the close-knit Special Olympics of Texas community. Since 2001 she had been immersed in volunteering, providing encouragement, organizing delegation banquets and events, recruiting friends and family to participate by any means, and providing food, refreshments and comfort from her RV to Athletes in out of town events. She loved Special Olympics and developed deep lasting bonds with other special needs families.
Barbara will be fondly remembered for her contagious laugh, bright smile, unwavering upbeat attitude, bubbly personality, selflessness, and fierce independence. Even throughout the progression of her disease, she radiated strength and positivity. Barbara left a unique and beautiful mark on the world.
Barbara is predeceased by her mother Carol Joan Dreyfus Culver, father David Sutcliffe Culver and brother Michael Culver. She is survived by her husband Richard; children, Heather Marie and Caroline Dillard, husband Jackson Dillard and grandchild, Warren; sisters, Jo MacDonald and Joyce Clark; and brothers, Robbie and Tom Culver.
