Margaret (Meg) Hobbs

Margaret (Megan) Elizabeth Hobbs, of Conway, AR, lost her courageous battle with ovarian cancer on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, where she had participated in clinical trials since 2011.
Megan was born Oct. 13, 1955, in Ames, Iowa. She was the daughter of Rowena G. Malone and the late Gerald E. Malone.
Megan loved St. Peter's Episcopal Church where she married Guy William Hobbs on Oct. 7, 1988; they made Conway their home for 27 years.
Megan had a deep and constant faith in God, her favorite Bible verse was Hebrews 11:1, "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."
Megan was a 1977 graduate of Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. For many years she worked in retail and pharmaceutical sales and later enjoyed discovering and selling vintage items turning her hobby into a home business.
She was a past president of Chapter BE, P.E.O. of Conway.
Throughout her life, Megan remained optimistic and courageous. Much of her focus was on others, and she quickly developed a meaningful ministry through the knitting of hats and scarves and creating beautiful custom-made jewelry for her "Chemo Sisters," friends, and caregivers, who shared her battle. She had a ready smile and words of encouragement for everyone.
Megan embraced her participation in the clinical trials at MD Anderson, knowing that she had become part of something bigger than herself through the research done there. Her family is thankful for the exceptional and compassionate care, and support she received at MD Anderson and the wonderful friends she made there.
She is survived by her mother; her husband; sister- and brother-in-law, Cissy and Bill Jones of Vilonia, and their family; step-brother, Garry Malone (Barbara) of East Greenbush, N.Y.; step-sisters, Sara Gottschalk (Don), and Marni Malone, both of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Judy Malone Harvey, of Danville, Va.
She will be greatly missed by her extended family and close friends including Joan Burnet Bruns, whom she had known since kindergarten, Penny and JD Hatfield, Tobi Taylor, Donna Ponchard, Shannon Hood, and her P.E.O. sisters in chapter BE, and many others.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church located at 925 Mitchell St. in Conway.
