Rickey Dean Martin passed away from cancer at Israel Family Hospice House Saturday, March 3, 2012. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 9, also at Stevens.
Rickey Martin was born Oct. 27, 1953. He graduated from Ames High School in 1973 and then graduated from culinary school. Rickey worked as the food service manager at an Ames care facility for 38 years. The past three years, he worked at Union Drive Market Place as a cook.
He enjoyed college sports and was a huge ISU fan. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and previously served as president of the Ames Evening Lions Club.
He is survived by three sisters and one brother, Penny Martin Tolle, Candy Martin Smith, Billie Calkins Strickler and Rusty Martin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and fiancée, Bobby Stark.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
