Obituary:
Christopher Marc Creecy
Virginia Beach - Marc passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018, surrounded by his loving family and friends. This world has lost a true Renaissance man; a lover of knowledge of all sorts; a talented artisan; a genuine humanitarian; an insightful conversationalist and skilled debater; a connoisseur of film, TV and music; a great and generous- hearted humorist; a lover of golf; a billiards sharpshooter ("Never listen to your opponent!"); a relentless garage sale harvester; and an occasional curmudgeon!

Marc is survived by his mother, June Robbins; brother, David Creecy (Jackie); sisters Teri Kuklica (Jeff), Cathy Huffman (Lindy); and stepsister Patsy Godwin; nieces Jennifer Billips (Kyle), Christine Packer (Dustin), Kelli Jo Garrett (Brent), Caitlin Ottavio (Andrew), Heather Haley; nephews Tyler Creecy, Brent, Charlie, and Michael Haley; 5 great nieces and nephews; dear uncles Wayne and Ron Byrum; special cousins Dana Redding, Lisa Grant, and Michael Maloney; and his guardian angel, Denise Deacon.

Marc was predeceased by his father, Gordon Creecy, beloved stepfather, Willis "Doc" Savage, and grandparents James and Margaret Creecy and Elmer and Velma Byrum.

Marc graduated from Cox High School in 1974. He attended St. Mary's College in Maryland, leaving to pursue his talents in carpentry on the Outer Banks, where he resided for over 30 years, returning to Virginia Beach in 2007. He was a devoted member of the Great Neck Hardee's Breakfast Club, led by Nurse Betty James, whom he looked on as a second mother.

Marc enriched everyone he knew, and we will miss his wisdom, advice, and spirit. He chose to donate his body to medical science, so that others might learn and benefit from what plagued his earthly body. A memorial service for Marc will be held on June 13, at 1 p.m., Francis Asbury United Methodist Church, 1871 N. Great Neck Rd., Va. Beach. A celebration of his life will immediately follow, in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marc's name may be made to the SPCA, the Salvation Army, or the charity of your choice.

Gary Lee Cromwell
Virginia Beach - On Friday May 18, 2018 our beloved companion, brother, grandfather and uncle, Gary Lee Cromwell has taken an eternal day off at the the young age of 63 to be with his father Harry W. Cromwell and mother Doris Anne Cromwell. Gary is survived long time companion Victoria Keaton, brothers Kim Ray Cromwell, Harry W. "Scooter" Cromwell, sister in-law Lesley Anne Cromwell, son Corey Lee Cromwell and grandson Oliver Cromwell. The tireless working man (the "hooty dooty" singing man in Crocs) who only took a day off to be with his grandson or for fishing on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay. Gary was a stranger to no one and was an amazing conversationalist, meaning he would talk your ears off. Now those conversations will be sorely missed by everyone he touched.

Our family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all of our extended family members and friends (especially the Walker & Laberge family) that provided love and support for Gary in his final days. We would also like to praise the 3rd floor ICU Team at Sentara Leigh Hospital for their care and compassion During this process.

Kenneth Hamilton

Graduation year: 1974
Deceased Date: 2023-01-20
Obituary:
Kenneth Michael Hamilton, 69, beloved father and grandfather, took his final breath on this earth on January 20, 2023. He is survived by his three children Joshua Hamilton (Amber), Adam Hamilton (Sarah Beth), and Brittney Hamilton; his six grandchildren Brycen, Ellison, Cole, Cristian, Wyatt, and Colton; and his three sisters Lorraine Templeton (Geoff), Pauline Springer, and Linda Goad (John). He was preceded in death by his parents Ian and Mavis Hamilton and his brother-in-law Steve Springer.

Ken was born in Evanston, Illinois but spent the majority of his years as a long-time resident of Virginia Beach, graduating from Cox High School and making his career as a businessman in the construction industry. Passionate about politics, the Cubs, and “Da Bears,” he loved meaningful conversations and great movies, and he never met a person who wasn’t instantly welcomed as a friend. He was known for picking up the tab, his gracious tips, volunteering at his church, and for treating everyone he met with kindness. All who know him will miss his practical jokes, his infectious laugh, and his genuine hugs.

Above all, he will be missed by his family. His children and grandchildren were the center of his world, and they will remember him and keep his legacy alive especially at all the places he loved most: every cook out, every baseball game, and every family holiday.

Pete Manoso - June 17th, 2024
I worked for Ken as a grill cook in the summers of 1976 and 1978 when he was the manager of the Hardee's Restaurant on Atlantic Avenue. He was a great guy to work for and really cared about his employees. The only time I ever saw him get upset was when I cut my thumb with a knife opening a bucket of pickles in August 1978. I was due to report on Active Duty in the US Army in two weeks and Ken was afraid my injury would delay that event. I also single-handedly destroyed the unit's (and his) safety record for injuries on the job. Fortunately, I only needed two stitches to close the wound, reported for duty on time, and we parted as friends and classmates. I'm sorry we lost touch over the years, but I am glad he lived a good life and will be remembered by his many friends and famiy.

Deceased Date: 2023-01-21
Obituary:
Ronald (“Ronnie”) Hayes, age 64, went to be with his Heavenly Father on January 21st, 2023. He passed away peacefully in his home.

Ronnie was born on December 12th, 1958 to Ralph & Lois Hayes in Wilkes County. He was an avid outdoorsmen, conservator of nature, and one of the most sincere men those fortunate enough to know him could imagine. Being a man of few words, when he did speak, he gave memorable significance to our hearts that let us know we were the center of his world. A loving husband, devoted father, doting grandfather and an unequivocal role model for what a man is. For his son and his grandson, Ronnie was a pillar of patience with an unsurmountable will to do right by each of them and it will reflect in their lives long after the pain of his passing.

Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Celeste; son, Ryan Boone (Sonya) of Mocksville; grandson, Liam Boone of Mocksville; father and mother-in-law, Jim & Rebecca Gore; sister in-law, Leslie Walsh; 2 nieces, 2 nephews; 1 great niece, 4 great nephews all of Wilkes.

He was preceded in death by both parents and his faithful dog Maggie.

We will honor his memory in our hearts and minds until we’re reunited with him in Heaven.

Service will be private. Flowers will be accepted. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be made to www.millerfuneralservice.com

Melanie Cook Turpin - November 14th, 2023
I wanted to add to Camille's memorial with updated information. Camille Maria Lassiter was born in New York City on Nov. 26, 1955, and passed away in Virginia Beach on March 31, 1983. She had married a few months before we graduated -- her husband was Kenneth William Rosie, and I believe she had a son a few years afterward. I hope that the admin of this site will update the spelling of her married name to Rosie as I am unable to do so myself from this tribute comment area. She is yet another classmate who left us much too soon, but I hope the life she had was happy and that her friends and family have wonderful memories of her. A FindAGrave memorial has been established for her at Princess Anne Memorial Park; her death certificate indicates that is where she was buried. The FindAGrave memorial ID is 261497999 and can be found at this link: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/261497999/camille-maria-rosie Rest in peace, Camille.
