2017-09-18
Nancy (Thuftedal) Kangas born July 24, 1955 in Kansas City, MO was taken from us unexpectedly from complications after emergency surgery on Sept 18, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter & Bernice Thuftedal, her beloved husband, John Kangas, brothers Dennis, Mark, & Chris, and sister, Cheryl Nelson. She is survived by children Sara (Aaron) Visness, Luther Kangas, and Carrie Kangas. Her legacy will live on in Grandchildren Jacob & Brad Collier, Sophia Sellwood, and Evan and Levi Visness. All who were fortunate to meet Nancy know the depth of her love and devotion to her family. Her laugh was contagious and frequent. She could recall a fun moment from years ago and relive it for all to enjoy, often laughing herself into tears during the retelling. She gladly celebrated the big events and small joys of every day with her family, especially reveling in the time spent with her grandkids. She found every possible reason to show her love to her family and friends, every birthday, every success, every sorrow, she was there to share the joy and ease the pain. She saw the best (and only the best) in everyone she encountered. Once you met her, you became her dear friend and she would remember you, picking up where you left off when you saw each other again the next day or years later. Many of these friends she met during her School Years at St. Anthony High School and later through her work in nursing / care giving, most recently at Healtheast Bethesda Care Center in South St. Paul. She sincerely loved being a Mother and later a Grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We also know she is happy to be reunited with her loving husband, John. Visitation at Nativity Lutheran St. Anthony, MN on Friday, Sept 29, 4-6PM, funeral service following. You are also invited to attend the Inurnment Service Saturday, Sept 30, 12pm a Pickerel Lake Cemetery, Becker County, MN.
Newi,, you were my dearest friend. 1973 - 1976 we hung together. Lived together. I remember when you met John. We kind of lost contact when the kids came. I have looked for your grave at Pickeral Lake Cemetery which is close to me but it's not there. I will always love you.
