1935-11-17 1991-11-16HUBERT L. HOWARD, Educator, born Nov. 17, 1935 in Boston, Mass., died Nov. 16, 1991. A Veteran and graduate of Boston College. Mr. Howard taught English for one year at Al Hiram University in Bagdad before returning to the U.ß. to obtain a Master’s Degree in Philosophy at Niagara University. Mr. Howard taught for more than 20 years in the Cleveland School System, rising to become Chair of the Dept. At the time of his death Mr. Howard was a member of the faculty at John Adams High School. 1927-02-20 2010-10-18Jerry J. Intorcio, age 83, beloved husband, father and brother passed away peacefully on October 18, 2010 in Denver, Colorado. At his side, were his three children. A Cleveland native, he graduated from Collinwood High School in February 1945. Soon thereafter, he was drafted into the U.S. Army during WWII. He was deployed to Japan where he served as a member of the U.S. Army Occupational Forces. Norman T. ZZ Novak

Norman T. Novak, 59, led St. Joseph marching band. During the 30 years that Norman T. Novak directed the St. Joseph High School marching band, it was known as one of the largest and best in the state. Its many honors including being invited to appear at halftime during Cleveland Browns football games several years in a row, a frequency that was almost unprecedented.
Mr. Novak also taught at Chanel High School for six years. He was the director of the United Slovenian Society band for 15 years.
Mr. Novak enjoyed boating as a hobby. He was founder of the West Channel Yacht Club on the banks of Eastlake’s Chagrin River and service as the club’s first commodore.

Frank ZZ Nurthern

Brother Francis T. “Frank” Nurthern did not attend Cathedral Latin School, but he was named the Alumni Man of the Year in 1966. That was because of the high regard graduates had for the former teacher and administrator.
The honors came even higher in 1983, when alumni gave him the “Our Man of the Year Award; for All Years, Past and Present.”
“He was the essence of the Cathedral Latin Alumni Association,” said Jim Hyland of University Heights, the association’s treasurer.
Brother Frank lived in recent months at the Marianist Community’s St. Leonard Center in Centerville, Ohio He died Tuesday in Dayton. He was 86.
