George Washington McCree Sr.

Obituary:
George Washington McCree Sr. (also known as, “GW”) was born on July 4, 1917 to our patriarch and matriarch, Eli and Anna McCree in Quitman, Mississippi. GW was an avid reader of books, magazines, newspapers, and enjoyed listening to the news and music. He himself played the piano. His favorite pastime while residing in the Bay Area was driving down to Fresno, CA to spend time with his sister, Mary, brothers - Arsweld and Ed, and cousin Minnie playing cards. GW was a quiet and gentle soul who loved his family. He served in the US Army and sent money to his mother (Anna) every month to assist her with living expenses. Following his honorable discharge, GW worked in the shipyard in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was there that he met and married, Johnnie Mae Carter (McCree). To this union were born three children - Edna Marie, Morell Clinton, and George W Jr. He died in a tragic way just three day after the birth of son George Jr on March 30, 1957. Since his death we have mourned the deaths of his wife, Johnnie and children Edna and Morell. His legacy continues on through his son, George II, eight grandchildren - Keresa, Angelica, Corrie, Tanasha, Chantel, George III, Mercedes and Juliannah, and eighteen great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
