Ida Mae Murphy (Barnett)

Ida Mae Barnett Murphy was the granddaughter of Howard Loving and Ida Johnson Loving. She was born in Nelson County, VA to James Sylvester Barnett and Pauline Barnett (Loving). Ida Mae had three siblings Geraldine Bessie, Elwood and June. She was educated in the public school system of Nelson County. As a child, Ida Mae loved spending time with her grandparents especially when it was time to go fishing. Ida Mae's vocation would include be a caregiver for others. This virtuous trait would extend to her union with Robert Murphy whom she married. They had six children which included Thomas Lee, Kenneth Eugene, Timothy Joe, Melissa, Virginia Anne and Robert Lewis. Ida Mae was raised in the church early in life. This cultivated her love for good preaching, praising, and singing. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Tyro, VA. We honor you.

Elwood Barnett

Obituary:
Elwood Barnett was the grandson of Howard Loving and Ida Johnson Loving. Elwood was born in Tyro, Virginia. He was one of four children born to James and Pauline Barnett. He attended the Nelson County public school system and graduated from the Nelson County Training School. Elwood traveled north to seek career opportunities. He sojourned to Washington, D.C. where he fulfilled his vocations as a handyman, carpenter and plumber. Onward north, Elwood traveled to Philadelphia, PA to seek further opportunities. Early during his quest to secure a reputable lifestyle, Elwood was introduced to Daisy Robinson. They married, August 30, 1975. From that union were born two children, Michael and Felicia Barnett. Elwood solicited projects that would help sustain a comfortable environment for his family. These talents fostered advances in this industry where Elwood became gainfully employed by the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. Elwood worked as a pipefitter for 25 years prior to his retirement in 2007. In his spare time, Elwood enjoyed gardening, fishing, working on his car. Michael Barnett has one daughter, Layla Christine Barnett. Elwood Barnett, we honor you.

Mary Lucy Robinson (Loving)

Mary Lucy Loving was the granddaughter of Howard Loving and Ida Johnson Loving. Mary Lucy was born to Frank and Camille Loving in Massies Mill, Virginia. As a child, she attended Little Zion Baptist Church in Virginia. Mary was educated by the school system of Nelson County, Virginia. After graduating from high school, Mary moved north to Pennsylvania and pursued her vocation in textiles. Mary Lucy met and married Charles Robinson Sr. Their union brought forth five children, Charles Robinson Jr., Jerry, James Duval (preceded in death), Carolyn and Tamika. Mary Lucy was a servant at heart. She was active in ministry. Mary Lucy was a member of Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church. She served as an Usher, sang on the Gospel Chorus and participated in missions with the United Methodist Women's Association. Mary Lucy was also an activist in her community of West Philadelphia. She performed the duties of Assistant Block Captain and was very active with voter registration campaigns. Mary Lucy loved to sew and host functions at her home. She was a giver to those in need. Mary Lucy's virtue and legacy will not be forgotten. We honor you.

Edith Robinson (Loving)

Obituary:
Edith Loving was the granddaughter of Howard Loving and Ida Johnson Loving. Edith was the first born child of Frank and Camille Loving. She was a native of Nelson County, VA and received her formal education from the Nelson County public school system. Edith's warm personality earned her many opportunities for advancement at church and throughout her community. Edith held vocations which included sewing, manufacturing, caregiving and administration, where she served as Church Secretary for Little Zion Baptist Church. Edith's poised and graceful disposition ultimately created a space to cultivate a committed union with her husband Warren Robinson. On November 14, 1961, Edith birthed their son Carter Michael Robinson. Edith will always be remembered as a woman of virtue who cared for her parents, the elderly and for her younger siblings Ed Lawrence Loving and Mary Lucy Loving. We honor you.

Pauline Julia Barnett (Loving)

Pauline Julia Loving Barnett was the daughter of Howard Loving and Ida Johnson Loving. She was born in Nelson County, VA. Pauline's siblings were William Chester, Frank, Robert, Laura, Susie, Mary Lizzie, Mariah and Jennie Ann. Pauline was married to James Sylvester Barnett. The two raised Geraldine Bessie, Elwood, Ida Mae and June. Pauline's favorite activities included fishing sewing, cooking and just spending time sitting on her porch. Pauline earned an honest living as a caregiver for children and the elderly. She cleaned houses and also worked in a boutique. She loved to plan events and host guests at her home. Pauline loved her family. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Thomas Lee, Kenneth Eugene, Timothy Joe, Melissa, Virginia Anne, Robert Lewis, Michael and Felicia. Pauline also had the opportunity to pour into the lives of her three great grandchildren. Pauline is best remembered for her austere demeanor yet immense sense of humor. We honor you.

Ed Lawrence Loving

Ed Lawrence Loving was the grandson of Howard Loving and Ida Johnson Loving. He was born to Frank and Camille Loving in Massies Mill, Virginia. He had two siblings, Edith Loving and Mary Lucy Loving. Ed Lawrence attended the Nelson County public school system. He was an active member of Little Zion Baptist Church in Virginia. His work in ministry would create opportunities for a greater calling later in his life. Ed Lawrence moved north to Philadelphia. There he was joined in holy matrimony to Peggy Arnold. From that union was born Brenda Loving. Ed Lawrence also gained three stepchildren, Eugene, Barbara and Loretta. Ed Lawrence held vocations which included trucking. He drove for the DuMont Trucking Company. He also held a profession as a cook. Ed Lawrence worked as a chef for Horn and Hoddart. Later in life, Ed Lawrence embraced another chance at love and married Anna Francis Manson. He would gain another stepson, Matthew Robert Manson III. At this time in life, Ed Lawrence became very active in ministry. He served as a Trustee for Resurrection Baptist Church. He was also a Deacon of King Tree of Life Church. Ed Lawrence actively served in his community. He was a Block Captain for more than 20 years and took pride in beautifying his neighborhood. Ed Lawrence was known for gardening, working on cars and spending time with family. Ed Lawrence had one grandson Dorian Loving who has six children and three grandchildren. We honor you.

Michael Lucas

Michael Lloyd Lucas was the great-nephew of Howard Loving and Ida Johnson Loving. He was born in Lynchburg, VA to Allan W. Loving and Gladys M. Cox. He attended public schools in Washington, D.C. As a graduate from high school, Michael pursued a career in the United States Air Force January 14, 1983 to June 23, 1987. Thereafter, he gained employment with the U.S. Census Bureau in Suitland, Maryland. Later in life, Michael developed a passion for genealogical studies. He delved into his rich family heritage and taught others about their lineage too. Michael used his knowledge of technology to ascertain family linkages from the abundant storylines of his African American culture Michael's spiritual and warm demeanor oftentimes left others who were in his presence feeling uplifted and motivation. Michael served as a faithful member of the family reunion committee for many years, even during his period of illness. In addition to his parents, Michael leaves to cherish his memory, two sisters - Myra Lucas and Natalie Lucas, plus a host of family and friends. Thank you Michael for your service to our country, to your family and for your legacy that's well received. We honor you.

Christopher Antonio Murphy

Christopher Antonio Murphy was the great, great-grandson to Howard Loving and Ida Johnson Loving. He was born in Charlottesville, Virginia to Bobby Ray Barnett, Sr and Melissa Murphy Tolliver. Christopher was a man of great faith in the Lord. He served his community and his family. He was a dedicated employee of ICS by Everidge. He had three beautiful children, Ariyana, Kingston and Elija. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on his car and listening to music. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert Murphy and Ida Mae Murphy (Barnett). Christopher left to cherish his memories a host of family and friends who will always remember the legacy that he shared. We honor you.

Charles Robinson Jr.

Charles Robinson Jr. was the great-grandson of Howard Loving and Ida Johnson Loving. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Charles Robinson Sr. and Mary Lucy Robinson (Loving). Charles was the eldest of five children. His siblings were Jerry, James Duval (preceded in death), Carolyn and Tamika. Charles began his calling for ministry early in life. He was a member of Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church of Philadelphia. There he served as an Usher, an Acolyte and participated in the youth ministry. Charles received his formal education in the Philadelphia Public School System. Charles was a servant at heart and extended his fellowship to the Church of New Hope and Faith, Philadelphia, PA. There he met and wedded his bride Tondaleya. From their union was born Matthius, Paul and Faith. Charles was greatly involved in the ministries of the church and was appointed as Deacon. In addition to this service, Charles was also a municipal employee for the City of Philadelphia. We honor you.
