Birdie Rand

Grade School: Kenwood
Marital status: Married
Spouse /Partner Name: Tony Lowe
Children: 3
Grandchildren: 1
Occupation: Retired - Was a Buyer at Target for 20 years and then part owner of a Sales Rep firm for another 20 years that sold to Target
Most unique school memory: I was challenged to a fight at "the wall" when at Jefferson.
Favorite hobbies or pastimes?: Golf, walking, traveling, hanging out with friends and family.
Have you traveled or lived in any other countries?: Traveled quite a lot as a Target buyer - China, India, Taiwan, Korea, Paris, London, Frankfurt. For fun we like to travel in Europe. Had to cancel 3 trips during Covid so need to play catch up now.
What have been your greatest joys, challenges, or accomplishments?: Raised 2 fabulous sons and acquired a lovely step daughter in my second marriage. I had a really great career. Greatest challenge was getting a divorce when boys were very little and then being a single mom for many years before marrying again.
What would people be surprised to know about you?: I discovered a decade ago that I am a medium. Yes, I communicate with the spirit world. They want to talk to us. Pretty crazy after a work life of analyzing numbers.
Are you still in contact with any fellow classmates?: Yes - many, which is great. Many of them are in my grade school pictures!
Please share a favorite high school memory?: Being an under performer on our fabulous winning swim team; Yearbook staff; Parties at private beach; Skiing in Aspen senior year with Anne S, Betsy L, Cinda J.

Robert Rees

Grade School: Kenwood
Marital status: Married
Spouse /Partner Name: Anne Cronmiller
Children: 0
Occupation: Journalist, high school English teacher
Most unique school memory: Seeing on the front page of the Minneapolis Tribune a photograph of Danny Edwards and Shari Gill drinking at Williams Pub on the day after the state lowered the drinking age to 18. (Was there a third person in that photo I'm not remembering? Probably.)
Favorite hobbies or pastimes?: Travel, hiking, reading
Have you traveled or lived in any other countries?: Israel, Ireland, Italy
What have been your greatest joys, challenges, or accomplishments?: I was an English teacher at Washburn and then Southwest, for nearly 30 years. I would like to believe that I was a positive influence on students, at least until when cell phones invaded the classroom.
What would people be surprised to know about you?: That most of my professional years were spent teaching high school English in the Minneapolis Public Schools, something I NEVER would have predicted when I was in high school (or in the years that followed).
Are you still in contact with any fellow classmates?: I most certainly am in touch with a number of fellow classmates, but they have threatened to inflict bodily damage should I reveal their identities.
Please share a favorite high school memory?: Having had the privilege of studying Humanities with Miss Westby

Marital status: Married
Spouse /Partner Name: Delores

Have you traveled or lived in any other countries?: I went to Mexico in December of '74 for a service project with a group of fellow college students.
What have been your greatest joys, challenges, or accomplishments?: Greatest joys are my family. Delores and I are celebrating 46 years of marriage in June. I have two sons, Mark and Scott. Mark is married to Erin and they have two sons, Michael and Caleb. Since I was an only child and grew up with a single mom (my dad died when I was 3), having a family is a real blessing.
