Calling all Class of 1975 Parkway West Classmates – We have an opportunity, given our upcoming reunion weekend to help others that were devastated by the May 16th EF3 tornado in St. Louis.

This tornado caused catastrophic damage to multiple schools in the St. Louis Public School District as well as upending the lives of many families and students.  Seven schools will not even be able to open at the start of the school year with their students temporarily sent to other schools.

The Little Bit Foundation has been at work since 2001, working closely with schools in the St. Louis region, including the St. Louis Public Schools, “to eliminate barriers to learning and provide educational enrichment opportunities for under-resourced students.”  Per Lathon Ferguson, VP of Development, in response to the disaster they “opened temporary resource centers to support the over 2,000 estimated families in The Little Bit Foundation’s service area navigate through loss and help them get back on their feet.  Currently we have distributed over 25,000 essential need items and services.”  These efforts continue given the long road of recovery.

The Little Bit Foundation works closely with the St. Louis Public Schools Foundation.  In many cases Little Bit is the “boots on the ground” as in the case of running the resource centers supported by funding from the St. Louis Public Schools Foundation and others.

Our classmate, True Morse, having recently experienced this same type of impact to families and students from Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina, has met with both The Little Bit Foundation and the St. Louis Public Schools Foundation to understand the needs and how our gifts will make a difference.  There will be additional information at our events, and he will be available to answer questions and provide additional insight.
