Not a memory -- but a thank you to all the organizers. Thank you thank you thank you for your spectacular, long, devoted, loving, impressive, meaningful, wonderful and astonishing work on our reunion. The venue, the decorations and décor, the music, the homage to our friends who are gone, the little touches and the big picture – all were astonishing. I have no idea how you pulled it off, and I can’t imagine the amount of time and effort (and anxiety) it took. I hope you know how many people appreciate it, and admire and love you. See you at the beach. On we go – together! Gratefully, Dan

I kept in touch with my favorite teacher, Nick Georgis, for years after graduation. He was a major friend, mentor and inspiration through my life. He was physics teacher and head of the Staples Amateur Radio Club. On his passing I took his call sign as my legacy call sign.

Sophomore English, Mr. Sloan presiding over a discussion of -- "A Bell for Adano" -- or some other 10th grade required reading. Mr. Decker opens the classroom door, thrusts his bearded face in and declaims, "Eschew obfuscation!" Jonathan Sheffer, from the back of the room: "Geshundheit!"

Just a brief update/correction on my post below: I just saw a map of the Staples building layout back in the day and the student lounge location I was visualizing would have been in the 6 building—in the corner that was closest to the field hockey field.

Does anyone else remember the following (or is it a false memory)? So…I’m not sure if it was a film festival or just simply some entertainment that was offered but I have a vague recollection of having seen some W.C. Fields short films including “The Fatal Glass of Beer” in what I think was a designated “student lounge.” The student lounge was on the lower level of what I think was Building 9; the entrance was to the best of my recollection off the road that overlooked the soccer field. This is all admittedly hazy—and I can’t blame it on pot smoking because I can truly say I never inhaled. So,if anyone has any memories of this, please post about it. I would very much appreciate it.

The three years I spent in the Music and Theater departments provided shelter from the storm. My participation in Staples Players, Choir, All-State Choir and Orphenians not only shaped the rest of my life, it saved it. I will be forever grateful to George Weigle, Al Pia and Judy Luster for their time, patience, guidance, wisdom, unconditional acceptance, and the high bar they set for excellence.
