Russel was one of the "Neighborhood Kids".
What a great time we had growing up in the Eastridge Track. Our parents bought those houses brand new in 1963 & 64. Everyone knew the Dix kids!
We DID play kick the can, hide and seek and built forts and all of us had to be in when the street lights came on. Russ had a great grin and always looked out for us girls :)
Rest well neighbor.

Met Russ in 6th grade at California School. Kirk, you're right- He was tough on the gridiron, with a spry sense of humor off. Really super guy who was hard to bring down in a pickup football game as he was really sweaty. 'Rud' as a few of us called him, came from a family of tough and strong brothers. Yet, akin to Hoss Cartwright of Bonanza fame, even though strong in stature, had a heart of gold. Once, playing at McPherson Jr. High in baseball, I got ran over in a collision with their baserunner while covering first base. Trying to gather myself on the pitcher's mound from having the wind knocked out of me- Russ, from left Yelled, "Appleby, quit your crying!"
Like you said, Julie, truly missed. Great growing up with you Russ on the fields of play.

Russ was a beloved brother-in-law. Miss him so much over the years since we lost him. A wonderful husband, father, son and brother. Love you, Russ ❤️

Russ was a tough SOB on our fb team...always ready, willing and able. Sad to see he will not be joining us in the physical realm.
