Laurie Diane West-Roberts was born August 8, 1957 in Denver Colorado to David and Anita West. She was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, the University of Denver and D.U. Law School. She became a Colorado State Public Defender on her 23rd birthday and later practiced criminal and Energy Law in Maine and Colorado. She donated her time for pro bono work and taught elementary school, where she was known as "Miss Laurie". She was married in 1986 to husband Scott and had two sons, Jacob and Aaron who were everything to her. Bob moved to Houston, Texas after high school. He lived there for 22 years. He married Amy Countryman in 1980 and they had a son, Robert Charles Young, Jr., in 1981. They divorced and then he married Cherryl Young early in the 2000s.
