Kitty was born October 17, 1955 in Tulsa to Jack Scranton and Kathleen (Sheridan) Scranton. Kitty was an Attorney and later worked in Outside Sales for several companies. Kitty was united in marriage to David Mead on July 3, 1999 in Tulsa. Kitty is survived by her husband, David of the home; one daughter, Evan Scranton and husband, Sam Pettit; one step-daughter, Amanda Mead; and three brothers, Jack Adwon, Joe Scranton and wife, Teresa, and Steve Scranton all of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

After graduating from Tulsa Memorial High School in 1973 she went on to study Nursing at the University of Oklahoma. In 1980 she received her master's degree in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin.
