Saturday, June 1st reached a high of 84F with gentle winds at the Cooper River Yacht Club as Moore Engineering celebrated another successful Crabs & Cruises event! Instead of starting the day with a walk around the river, guests were welcomed by the soothing music of Emme Ryan with a nostalgic Woodstock vibe, all thanks to our friends and Corporate Sponsor Premier Vocational Experts. Other sponsorships came from The Wright Law Firm, GT Mid Atlantic, and Vincent J. Cieka Law Offices, and RockBox Fitness Cherry Hill donated a raffle item of three free classes.
In support of Save the Children and The Children’s Home Society of NJ, MES raised approximately $7,560 (around $1,000 more than last year) with the most RSVPs yet! As usual, the candy raffles were a big hit with children and adults taking home the win. The first paid raffle, courtesy of Rock Box, also garnered some interest. Hopefully the company can become a recurring sponsor!
Ariana from The Children’s Home Society of NJ stopped by, fresh from a color run, along with her children who were more than excited to go kayaking. Ariana gave a nice speech thanking everyone for their support and explaining just some of the programs the donations support. In fact, we received over $1,000 in donations on the day of the event alone, proving the positive force of good company and support.
Due to the beautiful weather, guests busied themselves with sailing and kayaking for most of the afternoon. The Club’s stewards, Scott, and even Logan took people sailing. Younger children played yard games and took to the bounce slide. After Emme’s set finished, many guests stayed around to enjoy the good weather, food, and company. Even Taylor’s father, who fell in the river while trying to dock the sailboat, had a good time!
Many thanks to those who came early to help setup as well as helped after the event to clean up!
