Jane Heggen, 53, died March 30, at the home of her sister and brother-in-law after living with advanced adenocarcinoma for the past 20 months.

She was born in Ames, Iowa, to Zuma (Betty) and Theodore Heggen. She lived most of her adult life in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She moved to Des Moines in December 2006 to be close to family.

Jane worked as an estimator for Gee Asphalt in Cedar Rapids for many years. Her true passion in life was the care and well-being of rescued Bernese Mountain dogs, as well as other breeds housed in the inhumane condition of puppy mills. Margaret (Megan) Elizabeth Hobbs, of Conway, AR, lost her courageous battle with ovarian cancer on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, where she had participated in clinical trials since 2011.

Megan was born Oct. 13, 1955, in Ames, Iowa. She was the daughter of Rowena G. Malone and the late Gerald E. Malone.

Megan loved St. Peter's Episcopal Church where she married Guy William Hobbs on Oct. 7, 1988; they made Conway their home for 27 years.

Craig Hoof was born in Glencoe, Minn., Nov. 25, 1955, and survivors include his parents; one sister, Joy, and two brothers, Timothy and Jonathan, at home; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Koehler of Waconia, Minn., and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hoof of Young America, Minn.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church, Rev. James Wuebben officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Thomas Kevin Huisman, 64, of Ames, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2020, in his home surrounded by his family. Tom was diagnosed with esophageal cancer one month after he retired in August of 2017. His courage and determination to live during his three-year battle with cancer were an inspiration to all who knew him. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at First United Methodist Church in Ames at 11:00 am. Michael Jacobson, 44, of Ames died of sepsis Tuesday at Mary Greeley Medical Center. The body was cremated, and memorial services will be at 10:30 am today at Zion United Church of Christ in Hubbard. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ontario Cemetery in Ames.

Mr. Jacobson was born in Eldora and had lived in Ames most of his life. He was the owner and operator of Sportsman's Lounge in Ames and also had worked for KE Amusements. He was a member of the American Legion and Elks Lodge.

Deborah Rae Jarvis, 44, of Norwalk died of complications of pneumonia Wednesday at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Brooks Funeral Care in Clive. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at East Side Cemetery in Estherville.

Mrs. Jarvis was born in Estherville and moved to Norwalk three years ago from Des Moines. She was a secretary for Polk County Information Services Department.

Survivors include her husband, Wendol, who is the film commissioner for the state of Iowa; her mother, Phyllis Hagebock of Ankeny; and a brother, Dennis Hagebock of Yankton, S.D.

Theodore Edward “Ted” Jeska was born on December 18, 1955, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Dr. Edward L. and Elizabeth E. (Ahlgren) Jeska. His family moved to Ames, Iowa in August 1967.

After graduating from Ames High School in 1973, Ted worked at various jobs in Ames, including setting up mobile homes and as a chef at the Ramada Inn. Although not his career, he enjoyed cooking for family and friends throughout his life.

He then joined the United States Army, serving in Wiesbaden, Germany, where he kept his love of music, particularly the guitar, alive by forming a band with other servicemen that played in local bars.
