Rickey Dean Martin passed away from cancer at Israel Family Hospice House Saturday, March 3, 2012. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 9, also at Stevens.
Rickey Martin was born Oct. 27, 1953. He graduated from Ames High School in 1973 and then graduated from culinary school. Rickey worked as the food service manager at an Ames care facility for 38 years. The past three years, he worked at Union Drive Market Place as a cook.

John Robert Miller, 52, of Ames, died Friday, Nov. 2, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames, with Pastor Todd Jenks officiating.
John Miller was born March 30, 1955, in Ellsworth, to Robert William and Corinne (Swenson) Miller. He grew up in Glidden and moved to Ames in 1968. He graduated from Ames High School in 1973. He was a member of Boy Scouts of America and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from the American Institute of Business in Des Moines with an associate's degree in business in 1975.

Scott Harry Nichols, son of Donald and Anita Nichols, was born on September 30, 1955, in Ames. He graduated from Ames High School in 1973, where he pole vaulted and ran cross country. He graduated with a business degree from Mankato State University in 1977, where he also pole vaulted. On May 2, 1981, he married his sweetheart, Denise Ann Henderson from Randall. Most of his life, he was a loan officer and rare coin dealer (numinmatist). He ownd Chester's Coins on Main Street in Ames for the last 12 years, which remains open under the management of his son, Kirk.

2020-10-16O'Connor, William Earl "Bill", 46, of St. Petersburg, died Monday (Oct. 16, 2000) at Bayfront Medical Center. Born in Mason City, Iowa, he came here in 1993 from Ames, Iowa. He was an assembler and was a Marine Corps veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of American Legion Post 37 in Ames and the VFW in St. Petersburg. Survivors include two sisters, Patricia Bywaters, Nevada, Iowa, and Kelly Willman, Farley, Iowa; and two brothers, Kevin Bradley, Palm Harbor, and Steve Bradley, Cascade, Iowa. Harry Oates
1955-04-16 2020-10-26Harry B. Oates of Homosassa, Florida, was born on April 16, 1955 and passed away on October 26, 2020. Harry studied mechanical engineering at the University of Florida in Gainesville, and was an engineering manager at Progress Energy, Inc. Harry was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Gale, in 2019 and by his son, Kollin Ray Oates. According to Gale's obituary, "Those who know, couldn’t say 'Gale' without saying 'Harry.' Jeff was my youngest brother and likely was the smartest of us. After he graduated from AHS, he enrolled briefly in DMACC and then worked for the Highway Commission. He enlisted in the Marines and was honorably discharged. Jeff eventually moved to Indiana, where he was a carpenter. Diabetes and cancer took his life.

Rusty O. Purvis, Kimberling City, MO, son of Gary and Doris (Ruby) Purvis, was born July 23, 1955, in Ames, Iowa, and departed this life on March 24, 2021, at the age of 65.
Rusty permanently moved to Missouri with his family 18 years ago. Rusty served his country proudly in the United States Navy, then went on to work for the Army Corp of Engineers.
Rusty was preceded in death by his parents.
