Alfred F. Srp, a St. Joseph High School teacher and administrator, and a World War II Army veteran, died Thursday at home. He was 74.
During his 35 years at St. Joseph, he taught biology, horticulture, math, science and typing. He also served as vice principal and disciplinarian and was inducted into the St. Joseph Hall of Fame.
Mr. Srp was born in Cleveland and graduated from John Adams High School. He earned a bachelor of science degree from John Carroll University.

ROBERT STRAUB Known for his humor, one liners, and passion for basketball, Bob" The Baron " Straub passed peacefully, with family by his side, on July 14, 2018. Cherished father to Shannon M. Richards and son-in-law Matthew and Megan L. Hurley and son-in-law Jamie. Grandfather to Nathanial, Ella, Jacob, Caden, Connor, and Erin and great-grandfather to Lexton. Funeral Mass for Robert J. Turoczy, age 71, will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Gabriel Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Concord Township.
Mr. Turoczy died March 7, 2011.
Born June 24, 1939, in Cleveland, he lived in Willowick before moving to Painesville 20 years ago.
He was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
After 42 years of service, Mr. Turoczy retired in 2005 as a teacher at Lake Catholic High School in Mentor and a former teacher at St. Joseph High School in Cleveland.

Yirka Ph.D, a prominent member of the Croatian Academy of America and a former member of the Academy's Executive Council, died at his home in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, on Saturday, August 13, 1977 after suffering a heart attack. Yirka was born on December 13, 1918 in Sarajevo, Bosnia. He studied classical and Slavic languages and literature at the University of Zagreb.
