Kathy Bea Howerton was born Kathy Bea DeGarmo to Virgil and Beatrice DeGarmo on May 20, 1954 in Wichita, KS. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Denver in 1972. She married Keith Shearwood on February 9, 1974 in Fort Collins, Colorado her husband of 27 years. Kathy was a Certified Insurance Counselor in Kansas and Colorado for more than 20 years before retiring to travel the country after she married Floyd (Bill) Howerton on June 7, 2002, who precedes her in death. She loved to fish, crochet, quilt, travel, read, bask in the sun, watch movies, camp, and spend time with family. She also loved to cook and was a master in the kitchen, with any of her creations being absolutely delicious. She bravely fought and arduous five month long battle with cancer, but still enjoyed Panda Express, Red Lobster and McDonald’s Chocolate Milkshakes until she passed on August 29, 2010. Kathy is survived by two children, Craig Thomas Shearwood and Carmen Kathleen Shearwood, and one brother, Garry Lynn DeGarmo. She is predeceased in death by her parents and sister, Patricia Ayres.
