He is survived by his children, Robert J. Tignor and Shelby L. Tignor of Columbia, Md.; his sister, Judith F. Belcher of Milford, Va.; and his brother, Marvin A. Tignor of Severna Park, Md.

He was born Sept. 17, 1955, in Newport News, and graduated from Ferguson High School in 1973. He graduated with a degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech in 1977 where he marched and played saxophone for the Highty Tighty Regimental Marching Band and was active with Alpha Phi Omega. John Burton “J.B.” White, born May 1,1955 in Newport News, passed away on March 20, 2024, with his beloved wife and daughters by his side. As a resident of Hampton for the past 50 years, evidence of his creativity and incredible aptitude as a machinist and master carpenter can been seen throughout Hampton Roads.
J.B. was a 1973 graduate of Warwick High School and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Newport News.
