Goal Achievers Program Fundraiser
By: Courtnie McIntosh
The Academy of Goal Achievers is a youth leadership mentoring program, born from the idea that, all youth and families deserve access to resources that can help and support the development of youth leaders through giving back to their communities and receiving guidance and direction on their individualized post-secondary goals. We're seeking support to continue and expand our services to help students develop into youth leaders who positively impact their local communities, while providing our youth effective tools, resources and support to be prepared for postsecondary educational and career pathways. In the state of NC in 2016 99,100 juniors took the ACT and only 15.4 percent had college ready scores. In our local community 8,460 students took the ACT and 20.2 had college ready scores. We are still far from the benchmark of satisfactory. In fact, a recent Harvard University/University of California, Berkeley study revealed that of the nation’s largest cities Charlotte ranked 50th out of 50 in economic mobility. As a result of this study a non partisan group was commissioned, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Opportunity Taskforce and their report identified three determinants most likely to influence the trajectory of an individual as: Early Care and Education, College and Career Readiness, and Child and Family Stability. It's clear the school system alone cannot be responsible to get our students ready, but it takes a community, including programs like The Academy of Goal Achievers, community partners, and cooperation’s to help our students prepare for their futures. Mentoring has proven to be an effective strategy in lowering high school dropout rates, increasing academic/behavior performance in schools. And, students who are involved in mentoring and youth development programs tend to have a higher college acceptance rate and higher educational aspirations. Programming that involves leadership, mentorship and community involvement is key to building youth’s self-esteem and preparing students for their futures. This additional Funding will allow the continuation of current Growth Opportunities, stated below. 1) College Tours 2) Free Tutoring 3) Free SAT/ACT Prep Courses 4) Supportive Services 5) Expand our Study Hall Resources by purchasing 3 laptop computers to assist students more effectively with their school work.

If giving the opportunity to travel abroad to participate in a learning environment…would you? My name is Robert Brown, III a 12-year-old student that have been studying Mandarin at Wesley Academy for over 5 years. In the Summer of 2019, I hope to travel to China.  I have been given the opportunity to study abroad in China for 1 month. I am asking you to believe in the positive change I can create and invest whatever dollar amount you can contribute. I have included a page with further information. The Drone Project-STEAM for Kids
By: Chris Taylor
For Immediate Release: Since the MultiGP International Open, VikingUAS has been overwhelmed by country-wide and regional local support.  In return, VikingUAS would like to increase our dedication in promoting drone technology and STEAM learning in Maine to ALL students.   Over the last 2 years, VikingUAS's CEO, Chris Taylor, has personally taught engineering and drone technologies to students at Thornton Academy, Massabesic Middle School, and the Earth School in Gorham.  With these philanthropic educational endeavors, Mr. Taylor has come to appreciate the need for STEAM learning as an after-school program where like-minded students combine skills to work in teams in a think-tank atmosphere as they seek to develop drone solutions, fly first person view “FPV” with VikingUAS’s own drones, and/or take traditional classes that focus on the design and engineering of drones in general.   Thanks to the recent help from the City of Saco and the City of Biddeford, plus countless volunteers — VikingUAS has found a location in the newly renovated Biddeford Mills, owned by Doug Sanford, to make its educational programming a reality.    Mr. Sanford’s dedication to renovating and revitalizing the Mills to bring businesses to the area make it the perfect location for VikingUAS’s programming. With everything from engineering think tanks, photography studios, 3D printing, and light manufacturing — VikingUAS students will gain invaluable experience from our specialized programming - while also rubbing elbows and learning informally from the entrepreneurs and makers that comprise the growing community within the Mills.                    Below you will find information on VikingUAS’s “Drone Project 2018” and how You can help us elevate our region and our children to succeed and adapt within the world changing around us.   STEAM in SACO/Biddeford, by VikingUAS, is primarily for kids - grades 6-12 (though parents are welcome!)  We have programs scheduled all year long from: Search & Rescue, Agility, Obstacle Course Racing, Entrepreneurship, Videography, Photography, Aerial Mapping, FPV Racing (first person view), Safety, and, of course - Fun!  Our programming will provide valuable STEAM and drone flight skills from the leader in drone innovation: Viking Unmanned Aerial Systems Inc.   If you want to advance your or your child’s education - or you simply want to further your family’s understanding of one of today’s fastest growing industries — being a part of Team VikingUAS, competing in drone racing leagues such as MultiGP drone racing, X Class Racing, and FreeStyle FPV, is simply a must.  Whether someone in your family is an aspiring engineer, designer, drone film director, drone aerial photographer, drone sports enthusiast, drone racer, entrepreneur, or drone robotics guru — it is time to launch the creativity and exploration needed to TAKE FLIGHT before the moment passes and other families and regions lead the way.   To get VikingUAS’s “Drone Project 2018” started - we need your help!  And it starts with funding and word of mouth. As you know, we are currently acquiring facilities in the Biddeford Mills to hold our programs, events, and builds - but we need the local communities’ help in putting everything together.   A simple $5 donation will go a long way to help us make our region the leading Drone Education hotspot in the entire world.   To fully provide Maine students with the education they need in today’s and tomorrow’s cutting edge technologies - VikingUAS needs the help of the communities at large to help us get this highly specialized, extracurricular, forward-thinking education off the ground.  And your simple $5 donation will certainly help us do just that. Many thanks - and may you fly to new heights everyday, Viking UAS Inc.

We are launching our inaugural event to raise funds for water purification systems to be placed in third world villages. I needed a website built on top of a platform well suited for ticket sales and donations. After reviewing several SaaS providers, I chose MyEvent.com. Rob is a pleasure to work with and has a team that is responsive and inventive. I'll be using MyEvent for the many years to come.
