While attending Bedford Road Collegiate in Saskatoon, Jerry led his football squad while also playing competitive hockey and baseball. Born to Ernest and Elizabeth Farrell in Manchester, England in 1911, Florence immigrated to Saskatoon with her family in 1915, where she lived for the rest of her life. She attended Mayfair School and Bedford Road Collegiate. She then worked in the accounting field at such places as Eatons, Royal Motors, Kramer Tractor and finally Blanche Buchanan's until her retirement. She was a long time member of the Caramica Club of Saskatoon and the Saskatoon Bridge Club.
